Penang, 7 May – Multimedia University (MMU) launched the flagship programme of its Graduate Institute of Engineering (GIE) at the Penang Skills Development Centre (PSDC) here today.
The flagship programme consists of four courses which were designed to improve high caliber research personnel for the Malaysian industry in high-tech areas. These courses are Master of Engineering in Microelectronics, Master of Engineering in Telecommunications, Master of Engineering in Photonics, and Master of Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
These courses address fields that are highly important to current and future consumers. By offering these courses from a highly respected provider of engineering know-how, PSDC aims to provide skilled human capital that could value-add to the industrial landscape of Penang and the nation.
President of MMU, Professor Dato’ Dr. Muhamad Rasat Muhamad, expressed his happiness that PSDC continues to support in MMU helping the university reach more students in the northern region. In his speech, he described how important it was to master knowledge in technology and telecommunications, as it was the only way of gaining an edge over competitors and leading the market.
Representing PSDC was Dato’ Boonler Somchit, CEO of PSDC, who said that PSDC was proud to have a long-standing association with MMU. Collaboration between the two organizations began in 2001, and have flourished since then. Dato’ Boonler expressed his confidence that the revamped programmes would have a very positive impact on the industry in Malaysia.
